My name is Jasmine Wilmany. I am a stay at home mom with two girls. My husband travels a lot for his job, so I use that time to craft the night away! My favorite hobby is painting flowers on canvas with oil paints. I also love paper piecing and journaling. Journaling is like a cross between a diary and a scrapbook and it feels good to preserve moments in my life. I started using Photoshop sixteen years ago and haven't stopped since. I use it almost everyday. I haven't made much time for them, but I also play piano and guitar. Crafting is such a wonderful way to bring out the happiness of life and sharing it with others.
I bought the Cricut Imagine machine while watching it making its debut on HSN.
There is a lot to talk about, but here are a few things off the top of my head. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I do consider myself proficient enough to know that my opinions are valid.
They boast the fact that you can use old cartridges and combine them with new cartridges for even more variety.
Problem. It only works once in a while. Here's an example. I plugged in one of the new cartridges that came with the machine and then plugged in Winter Wonderland. It just prints the shapes, but doesn't cut. This happens over and over again. I tried turning it off and on, with the cartridge plugged in, adding it later, etc. Some cartridges like Summer in Paris don't cut or print. The screen just keeps going back to the main menu.
It's kind of like PS3. When it first came out they said it was compatible with PS2 games. Well it had so many bugs that they canned the whole idea all together and told the public to just buy new games. I'm afraid that might happen with the Cricut Imagine. I have over 40 cartridges and I think I have every right to expect it to work with the new machine.
It doesn't work with Cricut Design Studio
Problem. The LCD screen is so tiny. I like being able to weld letters and manipulating it on the screen before I cut. You can't weld on the Cricut Imagine or save projects. You definitely need to use a Gypsy, which it says it is compatible with.
It's practically twice the size
It's not a problem, but I thought you would like to know that it's huge and heavy. So clear some table space!

It takes me a little while to figure out electronic devices, but the Expressions has been fairly simple. I watched the tutorial cd, and that made all the difference! Walmart definitely had the best price for the bundle, including the software. (airstreamer)
Love this product. I can give away all of my alphabet stickers because I can make my own and they'll be even bettter because I can choose the color and size to suit my needs. I recently started card making and this product will be very useful for that too. Never again will I have to buy bulletin board letters for my classroom because I can now make them. I can't wait to see what cartridges will be available in the future!
One word of warning, do not leave the Cricut while it is cutting and walk away because it can jam if the mat doesn't stick while cutting. If you are watching it, you can press the paper down as it is cutting to avoid the mess I made by not watching. (Crazy4scrappin)
