Hi "Robynettes!"

"NEWS FROM THE NEST"

November 30 is your last chance to get in on the big THANKSGIVING SALE
at the Robyn's Fetish Store, so you better hurry if you want to get anything and save some money.

This Sunday, December 4 the NEW DT Ladies will start to show their creative sides as they begin to participate in the I DID IT CREATIONS CHALLENGES.
If you want to see something very special, do not forget to check the challenge!

They are all set to join in with our Senior Members, Cindy, Jules and Michelle.

What a great DT they are, too!  Each and every one is so talented and creative.

Just wait and see how surprised you will be!

Psst!  Hint!  Hint!   Something very special is coming tomorrow!  Make sure that you come back to see what it is!

"WHERE IS BIRDIE THIS WEEK?"

Birdie is back from her Thanksgiving break and has quite a few challenges for you to enter.

Birdie and her babies spent a lovely Thanksgiving!  They dined on the traditional stuffed worms and pumpkin seeds.  I was invited, too, but I passed up the invitation.

I had turkey but please do not tell Birdie!  She would not like to know that the special "guest" at my Thanksgiving dinner was one of her relatives.  LOL!

Grab those pencils and papers so that you can check out these challenges that Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps And More is sponsoring this week.

1.  December - The Sparkles Forum Christmas Challenge - This is a MONTHLY challenge and what a terrific one it is, too.  They make Christmas cards all year long.  Why not join and be part of the fun?  You can get a wonderful collection of Christmas cards made during the year.

2.  December 1 - Kort O Mania - we sponsor this challenge every other month.

3.  December 3 - Stamp, Scrap And Doodle Saturdays - What a great theme they have planned!  Birdie and I are sworn to secrecy, though, so you have to find out yourself what is happening.

4.  December 5 - The Shabby Tea Room - A terrific challenge that Robyn sponsors each month and they are a great group of very talented ladies on the DT.  You will be amazed at their creativity and elegant samples.

5.  December 6 - Tuesday Throwdown - Another challenge that Robyn sponsors regularly.  Birdie and I are always amazed by their talent.  What a wonderful DT they have!

Please do not forget to leave those wonderful Design teams some comments on their beautiful work.

Then get out your card stock and coloring mediums and enter those challenges!

Robyn always offers a great prize and you would not want to miss the chance to be a winner, right?

"DECORATING THE NEST"

Birdie did not receive any cards this week.  She is getting very sad so I have decided to show you one of the cards made by a Senior member of our DT.

Michelle made this fabulous card for our I DID IT CREATIONS CHALLENGE when it was sponsored by JLJ DESIGNS on November 13.

The theme was "EVERYBODY LOVES TEDDY" and Michelle chose this cute image called, "SUGARPLUM FAIRY."

Look at the ballerina's wings!  They are so glittery.  Can't you just hear the "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" music beginning?

Michelle added the tulle to the ballerina's tutu.  How real that makes it appear!

And just look at those tiny, sparkling rhinestones that make it look like she had diamonds at the waistline!

The stage is decorated with lovely, deep pink roses.  I bet the audience threw those roses to our brilliant ballerina when she finished her performance!

What a stunning and creative way to showcase this cute image!

Here is Michelle's personal blog, so that you can see more of her wonderful work.

I am sure that you spend a lot of time looking at everything Michelle has put on her blog.  You can get lost there for a long time, believe me.  She is very creative and talented.

Enjoy your stay at Michelle's blog and sign up to follow her.  That way you will never miss anything that she makes.

Thank you, Michelle, for allowing Birdie and I to show your beautiful card!

Until next Tuesday,

KEEP COLORING!

Fabulous Friday Fun 11-25-11

This week I am going to show you a fun technique of folding your paper to create a point of interest or embellishment for your project.

You need:

A square piece of either a double sided piece of patterned paper
a single sided piece of patterned paper that you can stamp on the back
or a piece cardstock.

I used a piece of patterned paper on one side and cream on the other. The size I used was 2 3/4.

This first picture is the patterned side of my patterned paper.

The other side is cream and I wanted to stamp a pattern on it. Here is the stamp I used:

I flipped the stamp over so the image was facing up and pressed my ink pad to the stamp.

With my stamp full of ink I took the piece of paper and placed it on top of the stamp. Be sure to hold the paper in place with one hand and run your fingers across the back of the paper with the other hand.

Here is a picture of the first time I stamped the paper.

I need the whole piece of paper to be stamped. Ink the stamp again and line it up the best you can.

Not bad but I still need those edges stamped as well. Repeat stamping just the edges. It's not of great concern if the image doesn't line up exactly.

Next we need to fold our square. Take two edges and fold them inward to make a point.

Proceed with folding the other two ends. You can see I got some ink on the patterned paper and that will be hidden with the next folds. If not use ink to ink the edges or a distressing tool to ink the edges and make it look like you wanted it that way:)

Next we will fold the four tips back onto themselves. You can use a bone folder to do this but personally I just eyeball it.

Next thing you need to do is adhere it. I open the folds and run a tape runner along the inside of the first fold as seen below. It's hard to see but the adhesive is a bunch of little lines in a row.

Then I use a glue stick to adhere the smaller tip.

Do this to all the edges to make your square.

Then I assembled my card together by adding a cake sticker to the center of the of the folded square.

Here is my final card using the square and an embossed sentiment.

I hope you have enjoyed this fun paper folding technique to create a visual interest point to your next project. If you would like a list of the supplies used, please see my blog.

If you do use this folding technique on a project and post me a link in the comments field on my BLOG I will send you a prize. This must be done before the next Fabulous Friday Fun is posted.

Many of the supplies that I have used for this project can be found in our OUTLAW WOMEN SCRAPBOOK EMPORIUM.

It is a Yahoo Group that you can join if you would like to be a part of a fabulous group of people who chat about everything under the sun, hold swaps and challenges, too.

It is a discount club, so once you are accepted, you can get great discounts on so many paper crafting supplies, like those that I used for my project.

We hope that you join us there for a lot of fun and learning!

Just click on OUTLAW WOMEN SCRAPBOOKING EMPORIUM and it will take you right to the HOME PAGE!

See you all next Friday for another FABULOUS FRIDAY FUN!

Welcome to the THANKSGIVING "CARD OF THE WEEK!"

Today I have a card for you that was made by one of the members of our Robyn's Fetish group at THE CRAFTER'S CAFE.

Kristina made this cute Thanksgiving card for her beautiful, little granddaughter, Leia.
This is tiny Leia's very first Thanksgiving!  What a wonderful remembrance this card will be for her!
And what a wonderful Grandmother Kristina is for making a card for Leia, too.
I am sure this card will be cherished by Leia just like the entire family cherishes this beautiful little girl

Kristina used Robyn's "Tom Turkey" digi for this lovely embellished card.

Kristina used her Prismacolor pencils to color up "Tom Turkey."   She also used a grass border punch for making the grass he is standing in, some pumpkins, which is a digi from "Make It Crafty" and the lovely orange ribbon comes from Stampin' Up!.

Let's see take a look at Kristina's wonderful blog, Kristylee's World.

Here we can see not only her TOM TURKEY card but that beautiful baby, too!

Spend some time looking at Kristina's great creations.  She has lots of different cards there all made with many different types of stamps.

Thank you, Kristina, for allowing us to see your card and Leia, too.

I am sure that your entire family is very thankful today for Leia and much more.

Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps And More

wishes all of you a very

HAPPY AND SAFE THANKSGIVING DAY!

Join me next week for another

"MEET THE DT"

THE I DID IT CREATIONS CHALLENGE DESIGN TEAM

CHRISTINE GARNER

Hi my name is Christine Garner and I live in Hickory, North Carolina.  I work at Hickory Chair Furniture  Company sewing fabric swatches that go out to all our dealers world wide.  I have been married for 20 years to a wonderful man Eric.  He never says anything about all my scrapping stuff.  I have 2 children Josh and Kayla that are in the 8Th grade.  I have a lot of support from my loving family.  I did not start doing cards until this past June when I entered my first challenge, ever  since then I have been hooked.  I am looking forward seeing what creative cards that you come up with.

My name is Cindy and I reside with my husband in Western Michigan.  I love making and sending out cards to people.  I think snail mail is the best way to perk up someones day.  I also teach in a local scrapbook store in my free time and really look forward to the winter season when everyone wants to create something.  I sell my really good cards on Etsy and at the same scrapbook store that I teach at. Stop by my blog  for some daily inspiration.  I post a new card or project almost everyday.  Monday's on my blog are referred to as Manly Mondays.  It is where I post a card or whatever that is intended for a male.  My husband gives his seal of approval before I post it but sometimes I I sneak others in that I think that could be given to a teen boy.  Thank you!

I started crafting about eight years ago when I became pregnant with my first child and since then I just love stamping, making cards, scrapbook layouts, etc..  Besides crafting, I also love cooking, especially pastries.  My favorite color is purple in any shade.  I love to learn and acquire creativity from others and I also like making video tutorials so I can share what I do with others.

HANNELIE BESTER

I am a 45 year old wife of a loving husband and a mother of 2 lovely daughters
(aged 18 and 15).  I was born in South - Africa and lived there for 42 years.
We relocated  3 years ago to the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi), after my husband accepted a job offer he received.
What a life changing experience!
We adapted to life here, and enjoy the cultural diversity of the country.
I gave up my professional career as a pharmacist when we moved here.  I always enjoyed making cards, but it was only after moving here, and with more time on my hands, that I discovered blogland.
Everyday since this discovery has been a steep learning curve!
I can't imagine a day without crafting or blogging!
I would describe my style as "on the clean and simple side."  I love other styles, and do experiment from time to time, with others like shabby chic.My mother tongue is Afrikaans but I blog in English, my second language.

JULES
I am forty something married with 4 kids, 2 of each and 2 grand daughters ages 8 and 3.  I spend all my spare time crafting and also spending on more crafting items!
I love all aspects of crafting, mainly making cards.  I find colouring very relaxing, that's my excuse.
I live in Manchester where it's always raining.

Laurence Huber

I am a single Mom with a 17 year old daughter.  I live with an English partner, which leaves me enough time to craft.  I have been crafting for a few years now.  I began with "Decopatch" and beading and was introduced to card making by a friend of mine.   Since that time, I have stopped nearly all other crafting and concentrated on cards.  I have found a small tabac-bar, that allows me to sell my cards but I make most of my cards just for fun or for friends.

  Lilia

I always loved crafting.  Art was always a big part of my life.  During my childhood years, I always did a lot of different crafts, such as floral arrangements, painting, cross - stitching, card making and even some food carving.  But as the time went by, I departed from most of it, retaining only cross - stitching as my main and favourite hobby.  I fell in love with card making a long time ago, although I became more serious about it only about Christmas time last year.  I started with embroidery on paper and then moved to simple cards with embellishments.  After trying stamp colouring, I fell in love with it and now I like to use stamps on almost every card.
Thanks to my husband's support (which means watching our 8 and 1 year old sons) I have a few evenings every week that I can can devote to my favourite crafts.  While he is watching our boys, I enjoy the time of creativity.  It is my stress relief.  I don't have one particular style, as I like to experiment and when crafting, often follow my mood rather than some style.  I like simple cards, I like clean cards, I like vintage cards but most of all I like beautiful cards, no matter in what style they are made.  I love the process but enjoy the results even more!

Michelle

Hello!  My name is Michelle and I am a WAHM from Ohio.  I have three wonderful children, three amazing grandchildren and another one on the way.  I have been with my High School Sweetheart for 24 years.  I started scrap booking about 14 years ago.  I decided to do this to leave something for my children and more generations to come.  There are not many photo's of family before me so I do not know much about my ancestors.  I didn't want that for my kids.
I started making cards about two years ago.  I never thought that I would like doing them but I fell in love with them.  At the same time, I started to learn about digital stamping.  What a new experience compared to scrap booking!  This is very fun and addicting.

I can honestly say that I am a scrapbook hoarder.  I have to have everything I see.  Paper is my biggest weakness.  I have seen so many beautiful pieces that I have to have.  I always buy two of everything.  You can never have enough.  LOL!
I love being on this Design Team.  I have made great friends and have learned great things also.  I am excited to see the new members coming aboard and showing us their talents.

Robyn (OWNER)

I'm Robyn and I am the owner of the I DID IT CREATIONS CHALLENGE and Company.
I am originally from Long Island, NY but lived in Arizona for many years.  After that, I moved to Florida, met my husband and moved to Indiana.
I was a bookkeeper by day and a professional Belly dance by night.  How I loved to perform!
Hubby and I live with our nine "Fur Babies."  Two of them are great big, cuddly St. Bernard "Clowns."  There are some cats, a cockatoo and two conjures mixed in with our merry band of "fur and feathers," too.
I love to scrap, create cards, do mixed media and altered art and many of my projects are posted on my blog.  I love to attend scrap booking crops and retreats.  It is great to share the company and creativity of others at these events.
What fun we have learning about each other and our hobby!

Susan Guzy

I am 51, an MRI Technologist by profession, but am now disabled.  I have been an artist in many forms since childhood.  I've been stamping on and off since I was about 30.  It became serious after going to a STAMPIN' UP workshop in 2002.  I loved it so much I signed up to be a demo, and I was until 2009.  I still enjoy their stamps, and those of other companies as well.  I use digital stamps too, but to be honest my heart is with rubber (especially unmounted).  I have a VAST collection of digital stamps, and in fact have to move them to flash drives to free up room on my computer. I am married and have 3 grown children. They are "bouncers" in that they have moved out and back a few times.  LOL!  Mostly my son, he is back with us now.  I am an animal lover and at the moment have 1 cat of my own, and our grand-cat and grand-dog (we've told our son the dog stays when he moves out again...my husband is quite attached...which is truly a first. I am attached too).  My disabilities are mostly physical ones that started out as injuries. But since the last injury (on-the-job) got infected with MRSA and I lost bones etc. (lost the ability to work in my field and elsewhere really).  I am dealing with Post-traumatic depression and anxiety.  Art and art or craft work, is therapy for me, in many ways.
My life isn't great, but it is what it is. My youngest daughter stamps some and scrapbooks also with me.

I was on a design team for a Scrapbook store here in NJ, that is now closed, called The Happy Scrapper. It is the only design team I have ever been on. However I have won several L/O contests in Scrap booking. Recently my work is becoming noticed in challenges on the Internet, and  I actually won one with that awesome "Happy Fall" image card  (Image by Robyn, The blog I won on- stamping for the weekend)!!

I would like to add that  I entered the most challenges EVER in the month of October and committed to, and followed through on THE largest challenge in the arts in my life of;  "The 31 Days of Halloween" (sponsored by SnS) and created something  stamped (or digi stamp) EVERY day for Halloween During the month of October. I am so glad to stop being fearful of rejection and put my work out there!

I am thoroughly flattered and honored to be a part of the DT for the "I Did It Creations" challenge blog. I hope to serve you all well.

Sue Nicholson

I am 45 years old, been married for 21 years to a really great husband but sadly, no children.  I work as Accounts Manager for a Shipping Company.  Been crafting for most of my life, always like to make things.  Enjoy stamping and colouring in, lately found the digis stamps and enjoy these as well.  My other hobbies are Ten  Pin Bowling which  am in 2 leagues on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Also been tracing my family tree over past many years.

Susan and Snow

I'm Susan and I am the Design Team Coordinator for the I DID IT CREATIONS CHALLENGE  and the Sponsorship Coordinator for Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps And More.
My husband and I have been married for 27 years.  He is a wonderful person who supports me in everything that I do, including this very addicting hobby.  Together we share our home with our eleven very spoiled rescue cats.
Snow is one of them and she is the cat in the photo that I use on my blog and whenever I leave comments on other blogs.
I was a high school Spanish teacher for many years.  After I left teaching, I discovered rubber stamping while watching the Carol Duvall show.  Curious to try it myself, I began by taking some classes at my local A.C. Moore store.  Later, a group of us followed the teacher when she began Stampin' Up! classes in her home.  I continued there for many years.
A few years ago, after seeing the term "digital stamp" on many blogs, I became curious again and had to ask my very computer literate husband what they were.  That was the beginning of a new journey in stamping for me.  I  became member of a forum that was owned by Robyn. Soon after, she asked the Sponsorship Coordinator for her digital stamp company and that eventually lead to Design Team Coordinator.
