Welcome to my last Fabulous Friday fun post. This week I am doing a masking technique that is quite easy and gives such a great look.

I cut a die cut using a Spellbinders heart die and then sprayed the heart with Glimmer mist.

After it dried completely, I used removable double sided tape to adhere the die cut to my white card base.

I used a distressing tool by Ranger Industries and distressing ink to create my background.

Holding the tool at the base instead of the handle, I was able to distress an even coat of the Fired Brick ink. Here it is partially done.

From this picture above I continued bringing small bits of ink onto the card base. A little at a time is the best way to go. You can always add more but you can't take away excess ink.

After I was finished I took off the die cut heart and revealed a white heart.

The two smaller hearts were sprayed with glimmer mist and let to dry. Next I needed to color my smallest heart on the back side so when the heart was folded up you could see red. Once dry from the mist and ink, I bent the smallest heart in half and adhered just that seam to the center of the larger heart.

From here I sewed the two hearts together at the seam.and then attached them to the center of the white masked heart. Flip up the sides of the smallest heart to add interest and depth.

From here I added rhinestones to the center and colored the thread with a Copic marker.

I stamped the sentiment using red ink onto another Spellbinders die cut and colored the heart in with red Stickles.

Please check out my BLOG for an opportunity to use my Fabulous Friday techniques or products and win a prize. (you must follow my blog in order to be eligible for a prize from me:)

I am doing a special large giveaway for anyone that does my FFF and posts it HERE by January 1st, 2012. I'm out shopping and picking up fun scrappy stuff to add to the prize with each trip out. They may have something to do with the FFF posts. Don't miss out.

Many of the supplies that I have used for this project can be found in our OUTLAW WOMEN SCRAPBOOK EMPORIUM.

It is a Yahoo Group that you can join if you would like to be a part of a fabulous group of people who chat about everything under the sun, hold swaps and challenges, too.

It is a discount club, so once you are accepted, you can get great discounts on so many paper crafting supplies, like those that I used for my project.

We hope that you join us there for a lot of fun and learning!

Just click on OUTLAW WOMEN SCRAPBOOKING EMPORIUM and it will take you right to the HOME PAGE!

Like I said above this will be my last Fabulous Friday Fun. Things are so busy that I just don't have the spare time like I did before. They are requiring me to work more hours which cuts into my creative time. I hope you have enjoyed this 3 month series of tutorials.
Thanks,
Cindy

The I DID IT CREATIONS CHALLENGE

is very proud to announce

that 2 new Ladies will be

joining us as part

of our Design Team

beginning on January 1, 2012!

We are very happy to introduce you to

EDWINA BROWN

Hi!  I am Edwina Brown.  I was born in Kentucky, moved to Georgia for 23 years on January 8, 1978 and then moved to New Jersey on February 21, 2001.
I learned about scrapbooking from a friend at church.  It was the beginning.  I made scrapbooks for different people when they moved away, including for the friend who taught me about scrapbooking.
I started making cards around 2006.  Digis came into my life when I finally figured out how to set up a blog, about 8 months ago.  I never knew that I would spend so much time with it and enjoy it so much.
I am 49 years old and will be 50 in February.  I have 3 brothers, 3 nieces and 2 great nephews.  I live with my parents and our 2 cats.  Mittens is my cat and Goldie is my Mom's cat, who was a stray and hurt and cold when we brought her in and took good care of her.  Cold, you ask?  Yes!  It was ZERO degrees outside!  What a lucky cat she is now!

KYM PENDERED

Hi!  My name is Kym and I have been making cards for about 6 years.  I started making paper craft items when I had to give up working after collapsing and suffering panic attacks.  Paper crafting has been my life since then and I  am currently a guest designer for Cricut.  I have also designed for Dollicraft and Tabbykat Designs.
My work has been showcased on Create and Craft TV and other various blogs.
I love all types of crafting, especially stamping and colouring with Promarkers.

Fabulous Friday Fun 12-23-11

Click here for THE CARD OF THE WEEK

This week I am going to show you a fun thing to do with twine, hemp, floss or you could even do it with ribbon. I stamped a background stamp onto my cardstock and there was a seam I wanted to cover up. Here is the end results:

Here are the supplies I used:
A paper piercer, cardstock, hemp and leaf brads.

I taped a piece of hemp to the back of the paper with regular scotch tape. If you were doing this for a scrapbook they sell acid free regular tape for things like this. Since this is for a calendar I didn't worry about it. I taped it to one side of the scalloped border.

From there I wrapped it around the front to the back and end up with the hemp in the front.

When I came back around from the top I crossed the hemp. This is where my first brad is going to be. If spacing is important to you it may be best to use a ruler and make marks on your paper as to where each brad should go.

I poked my hole and inserted my brad. Tuck the hemp under the brad where you want it to line up on your paper-like me covering the line of the overlapping stamp.

On the backside of the paper use the brad prongs to secure the hemp to the cardstock. This way you don't have to use glue to hold the hemp in place.

From there you cross the hemp again, poke your hole and insert the next brad. Tighten the hemp for a clean criss crossed look.

Secure the hemp in the back with the brad prongs and move on to the last one.

To make my crosses tighter I snipped the hemp in the back and secured it down with the last brad prongs. After that I taped the remaining piece of hemp to the back. (last step not shown)

Here is what it looks like once I was finished tucking and arranging the crosses of the hemp just right.

Here is the final layout I made using this technique.

With only a few days left until Christmas, I wanted to be sure you all got to see this lovely "CHRISTMAS COTTAGE" digi that one of our I DID IT CREATIONS DT members turned into a fabulous Christmas card.

Hannelie Bester is our very own "Desert Diva"  but even though she now lives in Abu Dhabi, she created a beautiful snowy Christmas card.

Maybe this is a cottage that one of Santa's elves lives in?

Hannelie was kind enough to supply us with directions on how she made her beautiful card.

Here is the supply list for making this card:

1.  Spellbinder's Nestabilities - Labels Two  (the largest die)

2.  Card stock and plaid paper

3.  Letraset bleed proof paper that the image was printed on

4.  Promarkers ( for those of us that live in the United States, these are like our Copic markers)

5.  Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad - "Antique Linen"

6.  Organza ribbon

7.  Sentiment - was computer generated by Hannelie

8.  Glitter

9.  Gold brads

10.  Glue

Hannelie assures us that this card was easy to make.  I hope she is right because I am going to give this one a try very soon and I am not very good at complicated cards, folks!  LOL!

Now for Hannelie's directions:

1.  Follow the directions for making an EASEL CARD. ( see end of article)

2.  Layer with plaid paper and the colored image.

3.  Color the background with Promarkers.

4.  Add a little of Tim Holtz's "Antique Linen" Distress Ink around the edges.

5.  Add glitter to the snowy patches.

6.  Add the organza bow on the side.

7.  Add the sentiment to the base panel.

Thank you very much, Hannelie, for showing all of us how to make this beautiful easel card!

What do you say, readers, are we all ready to try this?  I know that I am.
This shape is such a nice alternative to the usual rectangular or square easel card, isn't it?

Try making some easel cards with Robyn's digis and see if YOU become my next "CARD OF THE WEEK!"

Join me next THURSDAY for another

"CARD OF THE WEEK!"

You never know,

it just might be YOU!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hi "Robynettes!"

"NEWS FROM THE NEST"

Everybody is so busy with holiday preparations right now but we still have some news for you.

There is our I DID IT CREATIONS challenge that is going on right now and will end on Christmas Day.
It's a great theme with a wonderful prize, so get over to our challenge page and enter.

The I DID IT CREATIONS Design Team will have 2 more members joining them in JANUARY, 2012!
Birdie and I do not want you to miss seeing their wonderful work, so make sure that you check the challenge on January 1, 2012.
The DT has some great plans for the coming year.

"WHERE IS BIRDIE THIS WEEK?"

Birdie found only 1 challenge for you this week.  I guess Birdie is busy with her Christmas shopping for her babies.

1.  December 22 - The C.R.A.F.T Challenge

Please do not forget to leave the DT ladies some wonderful, appreciative comments when you enter their challenge.  Everybody likes  a little compliment once in a while, right?

"DECORATING THE NEST"

Birdie received a very cute card this week.  She received a CHRISTMAS CARD!

She asked me to show it to all of you "Robynettes" before she hung it up in her nest.

Edwina sent Birdie this cute Christmas card that she made with "ELISE, THE CHRISTMAS ELF."

Edwina colored the image and then cut it out and layered it on the blue background.
And just look at the pretty frame that she used on the card!

Then Edwina went on to continue the theme of  Elise sharing some hot cocoa with Birdie by decorating the INSIDE of the card, too!

How cute these two little hot cocoa mugs are!

You can see all of Edwina's great work on her blog, "Edwina's Creations."

Thank you, Edwina, for allowing Birdie and I to share your card with all of our "Robynettes!"

Remember, all of YOU can send in a card for us to show here, too.

This is what you do:

1.  make a card using one of the many Robyn's Fetish images

2.  take a photo of the card

3.  email that photo to me here: spaulson1984@hotmail.com

4.  I will show your card right here on "THE ROBYN'S NEST"

If you send me a photo of your card, you will win 1 free image of your choice!

How easy is that, right?

That's all from Birdie and I this week, "Robynettes!"  We both want to wish all of you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Until next Tuesday,

KEEP COLORING!
