"THE CARD OF THE WEEK" - 5/17/2012

Welcome to "THE CARD OF THE WEEK!"
I found a card made by someone who entered the ROBYN'S FETISH CHALLENGE # 103 on April 15 when we had a SPRING CARD theme.
I thought you all should see this beauty, especially since our CURRENT CHALLENGE is PAPER PIECING.
Diane made a card that is a brilliant example of the PAPER PIECING TECHNIQUE.
Oh my goodness! Is this card ever CUTE!
Not only did Diane paper piece almost the entire card, she also cut out the birdhouse and then made another layer so that the entire front opens! So, you get a shaped card as well as a paper pieced one. WOW!
The only thing that she did not paper piece, were the leaves, which she colored with promarkers.
For the patterned paper, Diane used a pretty polka dotted Spring paper from CRAFTS - TOO DESIGNER PAPER on the inside. She used the striped version for the front of the birdhouse.
Since Diane is never satisfied to do any simple cutting, she fussy cut the flowers, leaves and the little bird, making them decoupaged on the card.

And what lovely shades of purple, Diane chose for these, too!

Always looking for ways to make her cards special, Diane used different papers on the bird's cheek, and the tips of the wings and tail feathers. It would have been a lot easier for her to use the same paper on the entire bird but Diane knows how to get your attention, right?
It's these little details that make Diane a "master card maker" and makes us all wish we could be the lucky recipient of one of her cards.
